In 2005, I conceptualized, directed, and edited a narrative spoken word short film on the celebration of beauty and ethnicity, while confronting the unrealistic beauty standards women face.

Winner of Regional Emmy Award for “Best Youth Segment (Directing)

I received an additional 12 awards for excellence in filmmaking, including a Golden Gate Award from San Francisco International Film Festival and the Jury Award from Media That Matters.

“Slip of the Tongue” was screened in over 40 festivals, including San Francisco International Film Festival, L.A. Film Festival, and NYC Asian American Film Festival.

I was interviewed on NBC news, ABC news, and CBS Eye on the Bay.  My film also spread across numerous blogs and Youtube, with over 350,000 views through viral repostings.

Teachers continue to teach my film in high school and university film classes.  Korina Jocson, a professor at Washington University, published an academic article about my work in youth media and social activism.
